These are the best-rated wall and floor tilers working Fremantle, Melville and the suburbs between, from the port through South Fremantle, Beaconsfield and White Gum Valley, across O’Connor, Hamilton Hill and Willagee, and along the river through Bicton, Palmyra, Attadale and Applecross to Booragoon, Bull Creek and Leeming. They’re ranked on real Google reviews, not on who paid us. Every operator below is a working tile contractor with a verified local base and a real review record; the tile showrooms clustered around Myaree and the listings with no checkable base have been cut. Below the list you’ll find what tiling actually costs around Perth in 2026, the two things that quietly blow a tiling quote out, the red flags that tell you to keep scrolling, and a quick checklist to run before anyone opens a bag of glue in your house.

How we ranked these

  • Google reviews do the ranking. We start with every tiler’s live Google star rating and the number of reviews behind it, pulled fresh from Google Maps across Fremantle, Melville and the suburbs between.
  • Volume matters as much as the score. We weight each rating by its review count, so a perfect score proven across 25 jobs sits ahead of the same score from a handful. That’s the order you see below, and we’d make the same call with our own money.
  • No tiling licence exists in WA, so we look harder at the reviews. Wall and floor tiling isn’t a licensed trade in Western Australia. Anything over $20,000 must be run by a registered builder, and wet-area waterproofing has to meet AS 3740, but for a straight tiling job the review record and insurance are your real protection. We tell you what to check in the checklist below.
  • Locals only, verified on the map. Searches around Fremantle and Melville surface the tile showroom strip in Myaree, flooring retailers, a well-reviewed operator whose listing gives no checkable base at all, and tilers from the other side of Perth. We checked every candidate’s actual Google Maps location and cut all of them rather than pad the list.
  • Paid spots are labelled, and never jump the queue. When a business pays for a “Featured” spot it’s marked as such. The review-based order below does not change to favour a payer. Right now, no spots are sold.

Menon Industries Pty Ltd

Applecross · deepest perfect score in the district · wall & floor tiling
Representative image, not a photo of a specific listed business.
★★★★★ 5.0 (25 Google reviews)
Wall & floor tilingBathroomsRenovations

A perfect 5.0 across 25 reviews is the strongest record of any tile contractor based in this district, held from Carron Road in Applecross at the river end of the Melville side. Twenty-five public verdicts without a dropped star is not luck; reviewers call out professionalism, fair prices and workmanship in the same breath. When the job matters anywhere between the port and Bull Creek, this is the first call.

★★★★★ 5.0 (19 Google reviews)
Wall & floor tilingBathroomsRepairs

A 5.0 held across 19 reviews from a tile contractor based off South Street on the Leeming side of the district, with easy reach back through Bull Creek, Kardinya and Willagee to Fremantle. Nineteen reviews without a blemish, and the detailed ones read like real jobs done properly rather than mates rounding up. A very safe second quote anywhere on the Melville side.

Freo Tiling Pty Ltd

South Fremantle · the local Freo call · wall & floor tiling
Representative image, not a photo of a specific listed business.
★★★★★ 4.8 (19 Google reviews)
Wall & floor tilingBathroomsHeritage homes

A 4.8 across 19 reviews from a base on South Terrace in South Fremantle, making it the closest verified operator to the port itself. Reviewers mention quick service, bathroom and laundry renovations and quality work. In Freo’s older limestone and weatherboard housing stock, where floors have moved and nothing is square, a tiler who works these streets every week is worth having on the shortlist.

WA Tiling & StoneO’Connor · wall & floor tiling & stone · 4.5 across 11 reviews

4.5 (11)

All four are working tile contractors verified against their Google Maps locations inside this district: Applecross, the South Street corridor, South Fremantle and O’Connor. We left off the Myaree showroom strip (Myaree Ceramics, InStyle Ceramics and Direct Tile & Bath are categorised by Google as tile stores; they sell tiles and run renovations through their shops rather than operating as review-ranked tile contractors), a flooring retailer on Stock Road, Vacca Tiling & Stone (a 5.0 across 23 reviews, but its listing resolves to a placeholder map point shared by many Perth listings, with no website or checkable base, so we couldn’t verify where it actually works from), a tile removal specialist (demolition, not laying), and listings with only one or two reviews.

What tiling actually costs around Fremantle and Melville (2026)

Nobody likes ringing a tiler blind on price. These are honest ballpark ranges for the common jobs around Fremantle, Melville and the river suburbs, GST included, based on what Perth tilers are charging in 2026. They’re a guide to keep you from being overcharged, not a quote. The two numbers that quietly swing a tiling bill hardest are floor preparation (ripping up old tiles and levelling what’s underneath) and tile format (large-format 600×600-plus and mosaics both cost more to lay than a standard 300×300). Always get the prep priced separately in writing.

JobTypical rangeWhat pushes it up
Floor tiling, laying only$45-$75/m²Large-format tiles, herringbone or diagonal patterns, uneven slab
Wall tiling, laying only$50-$90/m²Mosaics, feature niches, window reveals, floor-to-ceiling walls
Old tile removal & disposal$25-$50/m²Tiles glued to screed, double layers, tight access, tip fees
Bathroom waterproofing (AS 3740)$500-$900Hob-less showers, second wet areas, failed old membrane to strip
Full bathroom retile (floor + walls)$2,500-$7,000Tile choice, floor levelling, moving drainage, niche and hob work
Shower regrout & reseal$350-$800Mould-affected silicone, epoxy grout upgrade, leak investigation
Kitchen or laundry splashback$300-$800Glass mosaics, power point cutouts, out-of-square walls

Ranges assume standard ceramic or porcelain and reasonable access. This district splits two ways: Fremantle’s heritage cottages and workers’ housing, where old floors have moved and prep is where the money goes, and the brick-and-tile family homes of Melville, Booragoon and Bull Creek, where bathrooms from the 70s and 80s are coming up for their second retile. A good tiler prices either after seeing the job, in writing, before starting. If they won’t, that’s a red flag (see below).

Don’t get ripped off: red flags

  • No waterproofing certificate for wet areas. Every shower and bathroom floor in WA has to be waterproofed to AS 3740 before a single tile goes down, and you should get the certificate or written confirmation for it. A tiler who shrugs at waterproofing is quoting you a leak that shows up in two years, inside a wall cavity.
  • A per-room price with nothing itemised. “Bathrooms are five grand” over the phone, sight unseen, with no square-metre rate and no line for prep or waterproofing, means the surprises get invented later. A real quote separates laying, prep, waterproofing and materials.
  • A big deposit up front. For home improvement work between $7,500 and $500,000, WA’s Home Building Contracts Act caps the deposit at 6.5 per cent. Anyone wanting a third or half of a bigger job before starting is either cash-flow desperate or planning a slow fade. Smaller jobs should still only carry a modest materials deposit.
  • Tiling straight over what’s there without checking it. Laying over old tiles or a cracked, drummy screed is sometimes fine and often a disaster, and the difference is whether anyone tapped the floor and checked levels first. In Fremantle’s older housing stock this is exactly where it goes wrong. If they quote without looking at the substrate, the fix comes out of your pocket twice.
  • No public liability insurance. Tiling isn’t a licensed trade in WA, so insurance and the review record are your only real backstops. If they can’t show a current certificate, keep scrolling.

Before you hire: quick checklist

  • Written, itemised quote. Square-metre rate, prep and removal, waterproofing, and materials each on their own line, with a start date and a rough duration.
  • Waterproofing to AS 3740. Who’s doing it, and do you get a certificate. For wet areas this matters more than the tiles.
  • Insurance. A current public liability certificate of currency, and if the whole job tops $20,000, a registered builder running it (that’s the WA threshold).
  • Recent local work. Photos of jobs finished in the last few months and reviews mentioning your kind of job, not just “great guy”.
  • Warranty in writing. What happens if grout cracks, tiles drum or the shower leaks in twelve months, and who pays for it.

Frequently asked

How did you rank these tilers?

By their live Google star rating weighted by the number of reviews behind it, pulled from Google Maps across Fremantle, Melville and the suburbs between. The weighting is why Menon Industries’ 5.0 across 25 reviews leads Todd The Tiler’s 5.0 across 19: same score, deeper evidence. Every listing is a working tile contractor verified to a real local base, not a tile shop.

Why are there only four tilers on this list?

Because that’s how many we could verify. Searches around Fremantle and Melville return plenty of results, but most are the tile showrooms along Norma Road in Myaree, flooring retailers, listings with one or two reviews, or operators whose listing gives no checkable base at all, including one with an excellent star rating. We’d rather show you four verified locals than pad the list with businesses we can’t stand behind. As more local tilers build verifiable records, the list grows.

What does it cost to retile a bathroom in Perth?

For a standard-sized bathroom, floor and walls, expect roughly $2,500 to $7,000 depending on tile choice, how much prep the floor needs and whether drainage moves. Waterproofing to AS 3740 usually adds $500 to $900 and is not the place to save money. In Fremantle’s older homes, allow extra for floor levelling. Get the prep and waterproofing itemised separately on the quote.

Do tilers need a licence in WA?

No. Unlike electricians or plumbers, wall and floor tilers aren’t licensed in Western Australia. Two rules still protect you: any home improvement work over $20,000 must be carried out by a registered builder, and wet-area waterproofing must meet the AS 3740 standard. Beyond that, the tiler’s review record, insurance and warranty are what you’re relying on, which is exactly why this list is ranked on reviews.
