Best solar installers in Geraldton & Webberton (2026)

Geraldton has a small solar market and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Eight businesses came up across our searches of the city and its industrial suburbs, and only three of them are both solar installers and approved sellers under the New Energy Tech Consumer Code, the ACCC authorised code administered by the Clean Energy Council. Three is our minimum for publishing a ranking at all, and we would rather run a short honest page than pad it out with battery retailers or Perth companies that service the Mid West from nine hours away. All three below have a Mid West street address confirmed against the national register.

One slot at the top of this page is available to a NETCC approved installer working in Geraldton and the Mid West. It is labelled as a paid placement wherever it appears, and it never changes the ranking below, which is set by review data alone.

A perfect 5.0 across 64 reviews is comfortably the deepest record of any credentialed solar installer in the Mid West, and the weighted gap to second place is 0.1472, the widest on any of our solar pages. This is not a close ranking. The Google profile publishes no street address, so the address above comes from the NETCC register, where the head office is 7 River Valley Road, Woorree, a Geraldton industrial suburb. The register entry covers solar PV, battery storage and EV charging.

Registered head office at 140 Flores Road, Webberton, matching the Google pin, with the register covering solar PV, battery storage and EV charging. Its approval is the most recent on this page, dated 22 July 2026, so there is less code history behind it than the two either side, though the code applies from the day of approval regardless. Positions two and three are 0.0152 apart, which is close enough that the order between them should not decide anything.

We are including a business on seven reviews and saying so plainly. Seven clears our floor but it tells you very little on its own, so the case here rests on the credential position instead: Solahart Geraldton has been a signatory since April 2019, under the predecessor ACCC authorised code that the current one replaced in February 2023, which is by far the longest code history on this page. Registered address matches the Google pin at 21 Stow Street, Webberton. The register entry covers solar PV and battery storage but not EV charging.

How we ranked these three

Solar is a licensed trade, so the credential check runs before the review score. In Western Australia the electrical licence register can only be searched by licence number, and no solar retailer publishes its number, so the workable check is the New Energy Tech Consumer Code register of approved sellers, which is name searchable, ACCC authorised and publishes head office and branch street addresses. Only businesses on that register were eligible for a place here.

Businesses that cleared the gate were scored on a weighted average that balances rating against review volume, so a 5.0 from seven customers does not automatically outrank a 5.0 from sixty four. Our floor is 4.3 stars, and three genuine credentialed operators is the minimum for a page to exist. Geraldton has exactly three. We did not widen the search radius to make the list longer, because a page that quietly includes Perth companies under a Geraldton headline is worse than a short one.

Who we cut, and why

On a page this short, the omissions matter as much as the inclusions. Here is every business we looked at and did not rank.

  • Sun City Batteries, 5.0 from 796 reviews at 296 Place Road, Wonthella. By a long way the biggest review record in Geraldton, and it is a battery store by its own Google category, at a different address from Sun City Solar. Car and deep cycle battery retail is a different trade from rooftop solar installation, so it is not ranked here, and its 796 reviews are emphatically not added to Sun City Solar nineteen.
  • Geraldton Solar Force, 4.8 from 20 reviews. The register entry reads Solar Force, Perth, Southwest, Geraldton, with a head office at 17 Niche Parade, Wangara, and no Geraldton street address of its own. The Google profile publishes no address either. It is a genuine approved seller servicing the Mid West from Perth, and we rank it on our Joondalup page where its address actually is.
  • Battery Mart, 4.9 from 94 reviews. Battery retail again, not solar installation.
  • Greenertek, filed by Google as a solar energy company but carrying no reviews at all. There is nothing for our method to weigh. It may well be a capable business, and if reviews accumulate it will appear in a future update.
  • Geniux Clean Tech, an approved seller since 30 September 2025 that surfaced on a register search for Geraldton. Its registered head office is Suite 409, 50 St Georges Terrace, Perth, with a second address in Mildura, Victoria. Not a Mid West business.

That is the whole field. If you know of a Geraldton solar installer we have missed, tell us and we will check the register and the reviews the same way we did for these.

The schemes that change what a system costs in 2026

We do not publish a price table for solar, because we cannot verify installed prices in the Mid West and inventing a range would be worse than useless. What we can verify is the support available, which moves the net figure far more than quote variation does. Geraldton sits on the south west interconnected grid, which reaches from Kalbarri to Albany, so it is a Synergy area and the SWIS rules apply here. Every line below was re-checked against the regulator on 12 September 2026.

SchemeWho runs itWhat it changes for you
WA Residential Battery SchemeEnergy Policy WA, administered by PlentiUp to 1,300 dollars for Synergy customers and 3,800 dollars for Horizon Power customers. Geraldton is a Synergy area, so 1,300 dollars is the figure that applies. Your approved vendor claims it on your behalf, joining a virtual power plant is a condition, and batteries installed before 1 July 2025 are not eligible for the rebate or the loan.
Cheaper Home Batteries ProgramAustralian GovernmentStacks on top of the state rebate. The WA scheme page worked example puts a 10 kWh battery at about 5,000 dollars of combined support, with larger batteries receiving more. The page itself warns that federal changes may move that total.
Small scale technology certificatesClean Energy RegulatorCuts the up front price of a rooftop system. Only installers accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia, who also hold an unrestricted electrical licence in the state of installation, can create them.
New grid requirements from 1 May 2026Energy Policy WA and Western PowerNew or upgraded systems on the south west grid must meet the current requirements, covering connections below 1,000 volts with 30 kVA or less of aggregate distributed energy, compliance with the Australian Region B settings of AS/NZS 4777.2 at installation, and capability testing on the day. Adding a battery counts as an upgrade.
Distributed Energy Buyback SchemeEnergy Policy WA and your retailerPays for electricity exported from panels, batteries and electric vehicles. The pricing structure rewards using your own generation at midday and exporting later in the day, which is why west facing panels are worth asking about.

The practical consequence for a Geraldton household is that the battery rebate is worth more than the gap between most quotes, and it can only be claimed through an approved vendor. So the first question to ask is not what a system costs, but whether the business quoting you is registered to claim the rebate on your behalf. The second is what export arrangement the quote assumes, because the rules changed in May and a system designed for the old arrangement is not the same system.

Before you sign anything

  • Ask who is doing the electrical work and whether they hold an unrestricted WA electrical licence. Accreditation and licensing are separate requirements and a retailer may subcontract both.
  • Check the installer against the NETCC approved seller register yourself. It takes a minute, it is free, and it is the same check we ran.
  • Get the export limit in writing. Whether your system is set to a standard export limit or a remotely managed connection changes what you earn back.
  • Ask where the service technician is based. In the Mid West this matters more than it does in Perth. A warranty callout from a company nine hours away is a different proposition from one across town.
  • Confirm the battery rebate path before you pay a deposit. The approved vendor claims it for you, so if your installer is not an approved vendor the rebate is not a form you can lodge later.

Questions

Do I need a licensed electrician to install solar panels in Geraldton?

Yes. Installing a grid connected solar system is electrical installing work, and under the Western Australian electricity licensing regulations it must be carried out by a licence holder. A contractor licence additionally requires the holder or an employee to hold a current WA electrician licence and the business to hold current civil liability insurance. Separately, the Clean Energy Regulator requires an installer to be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia, and to hold an unrestricted electrical licence in the state of installation, before small scale technology certificates can be created.

Why are there only three installers on this page?

Because there are only three that meet our test. Eight businesses came up in our searches of Geraldton and its suburbs. Two are battery retailers, one has no reviews, one is a Perth company with a Geraldton service area but no Mid West address, and one is a Perth and Mildura business that appeared on a register search. That leaves three approved sellers with a confirmed Mid West street address. Our rule is that we never merge a district into its neighbours or stretch a radius to make a list longer, so a page about Geraldton contains Geraldton businesses and stops there.

How much is the WA battery rebate in Geraldton?

Geraldton is on the south west interconnected grid and is a Synergy area, so the applicable figure is up to 1,300 dollars under the WA Residential Battery Scheme. Horizon Power customers, who are elsewhere in regional WA, get up to 3,800 dollars. The state page publishes a worked example putting a 10 kWh battery at around 5,000 dollars once the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program is combined with it. Joining a virtual power plant is a condition, batteries installed before 1 July 2025 are not eligible, and your approved vendor claims the rebate for you.

What changed for WA solar on 1 May 2026?

New or upgraded solar and battery systems connecting to the south west grid, which includes Geraldton, have to meet updated technical requirements. A standard small user facility is defined as a connection below 1,000 volts with 30 kVA or less of aggregate distributed energy, single or three phase, and inverters must comply with the Australian Region B settings of AS/NZS 4777.2 at installation, with capability testing carried out on the day. Adding a battery to an existing system counts as an upgrade and brings it into scope. A system you leave alone is unaffected.

Is Sun City Batteries the same business as Sun City Solar?

They share a name but we treat them as separate listings, because Google does: different addresses, different phone numbers, and different business categories. Sun City Batteries is filed as a battery store at 296 Place Road, Wonthella, with 796 reviews. Sun City Solar is at 140 Flores Road, Webberton, with 19 reviews, and it is the entity on the NETCC register. We rank the solar listing on the solar listing reviews, and we do not combine the two figures, because a combined number would describe something no customer has actually rated.

Should I use a Perth installer or a Geraldton one?

There is a real trade off and it is not the one people expect. Perth companies servicing the Mid West are often larger, with more product options and longer trading histories, and several are approved sellers. What they cannot offer is a technician half an hour away in year seven, when an inverter fault needs a site visit and the warranty claim depends on someone actually attending. If you go with a Perth business, ask specifically what the callout arrangement is for Geraldton and get the answer in writing. If you go local, accept that the review records here are small and read the reviews themselves rather than the star average.
