The Canning Vale and Welshpool industrial estates hold a genuine concentration of accredited installers, and unlike the northern and eastern corridors, almost every serious operator here cleared the credential check on the first pass. We assessed 21 solar businesses across Canning Vale, Welshpool, Kewdale, Gosnells, Maddington and Thornlie, ran each one through the New Energy Tech Consumer Code register before looking at a review score, and finished with four. Three of them sit within two streets of each other in the same Canning Vale estate, which tells you something about where the trade has clustered.

A 4.9 average across 661 reviews is the strongest combination of rating and sample size of any solar business we have assessed anywhere in Perth, and because our weighting trusts large samples close to face value, it produces a weighted score well clear of everything below it. The credentials match the record: NETCC Approved Seller since June 2021, under the predecessor code, with the register listing its head office as 7 Ernest Clark Road, Canning Vale, exactly as Google has it. Its registered region of operation covers WA and Victoria, and it is listed for solar PV, battery storage and EV charging rather than panels alone. Sustaining a rating that high while doing enough volume to accumulate 661 reviews is difficult, and it is the reason this ranking is not close.

The only ranked operator based in Welshpool rather than Canning Vale, and the one whose name tells you something useful: it trades as an electrical business as well as a solar retailer. That matters more in this trade than most, because solar installation is electrical installing work under WA law and a retailer that is not itself an electrical contractor has to engage one. Its NETCC registration is recent, dated August 2025, with a head office recorded as Unit 1, 17 Casino Street, Welshpool, matching Google unit for unit. A 4.8 across 415 reviews is a large, well-established sample that our weighting barely discounts. Casino Street sits in the Welshpool industrial belt, a short run to Cannington, Bentley, Kewdale, Queens Park and East Victoria Park.

A smaller Canning Vale operator with the same 4.8 rating as the business above it, on a smaller sample, which is exactly the situation our weighting exists to handle. Positions three and four on this page are separated by 0.012, so treat them as a tie rather than a ranking and choose on fit. TDG Solar’s NETCC listing dates from July 2025 and records its head office at 1/48 Vinnicombe Drive, Canning Vale, matching Google. It is one of the few operators in this corridor also registered for energy management alongside solar PV, battery storage and EV charging, which is worth knowing if you are thinking beyond a straight panel installation toward load control or a future virtual power plant product. Vinnicombe Drive is a few minutes from the two other Canning Vale operators on this page, so getting comparative quotes here is unusually easy.

The name reads like a switchboard company and we nearly cut it for that reason, which would have been a mistake. Its Google place page category is Solar energy company, not electrical contractor, and its NETCC listing covers solar PV, battery storage and EV charging. This is the miscategorisation trap working in reverse: in this trade we usually catch businesses labelled as solar that turn out to be equipment suppliers, and here is one labelled as electrical that is genuinely a solar installer. Approved since June 2025, head office Unit 5, 6-8 Harvard Way, Canning Vale, matching Google exactly. A 4.8 from 143 reviews puts it a hair behind TDG Solar on our weighted score. As with position three, the gap is not meaningful. Being an electrical business by origin is arguably a point in its favour for work that is electrical installing work by law.

Who we cut, and why we are telling you
The cuts in this corridor are unusual. In the north and east most failures were businesses with good reviews and no register listing. Here, the two most interesting exclusions are both NETCC approved and were cut on where they are actually based.
- Solar Lyght, 5.0 from 193 reviews — a perfect rating and a genuine NETCC listing dated 18/08/2025. Google places it at The Agonis on Albany Highway in Gosnells, which is a shared business hub rather than its own premises, and the register records its head office as 45 Ventnor Avenue, West Perth. Its website did not resolve when we checked. On the evidence available this is a West Perth business with a desk in Gosnells, so it belongs on a different page.
- Solar 365, 4.6 from 185 reviews — also NETCC approved, dated 12/08/2025, and operating across five states. Google gives a Canning Vale address on Harvard Way, but the register records its head office as 16 Clayton Street, Bellevue, which is in Perth’s eastern corridor rather than this one. Where the two conflict we treat the national register as the stronger signal, so it is cut here and will be assessed for the eastern suburbs page instead.
- Solutions4Solar 5.0 from 9 reviews, Gosnells; Reztech Solar 4.7 from 12, Maddington; Wow Solar 4.5 from 35, Welshpool; and Solar WA 4.5 from 24, Kewdale — all four are real businesses at real addresses inside this corridor. None of them scored high enough on our weighted rating to reach the table, because small review samples are pulled toward the category average rather than allowed to outrank large ones.

Perth’s south is thick with large, well-reviewed solar businesses that show up in Cannington and Canning Vale searches without being based here. They are worth naming so you can recognise them when they appear in your own search.

The rules that actually apply in WA
We do not publish a price table for solar, because we cannot verify WA installed prices to the standard we hold ourselves to and inventing one would be worse than omitting it. What we can give you is the regulatory picture, checked against the regulators’ own material on 6 September 2026. Rules change, we re-check monthly. Every operator ranked above should be able to speak to each row.

The change worth understanding before you sign this year is the one that took effect on 1 May 2026. Western Power’s WEM Procedure applies to what it calls Standard Small User Facilities, meaning connections below 1000 V with aggregate distributed energy capacity of 30 kVA or less. Its practical effect is to permit far more flexibility in system design up to an aggregate of 30 kVA on a standard connection, single or three phase, well above the previous 5 kVA limit. That opens a path to larger systems, greater export where the network can carry it, and future participation in virtual power plants or other flexible export products. The same procedure reinforces existing requirements that inverter energy systems comply with AS/NZS 4777.2, including the use of Australian Region B settings at installation. That setting is configured by your installer on the day and is not something you can easily verify afterward, so raise it before the job rather than after.
What to ask before you sign
- Which accreditation number will appear on my paperwork? The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme discount depends on an accredited designer and installer. Ask for the number rather than accepting a logo.
- Who holds the electrical contractor’s licence for this job? A solar retailer is not automatically an electrical contractor. Subcontracting is normal and fine, but you should know who is actually doing the work.
- Are you a New Energy Tech Consumer Code Approved Seller? It is voluntary, so a no is not disqualifying, but the register is public and you can check the answer yourself in a minute.
- Will my inverter be set to Australian Region B? Required under AS/NZS 4777.2 and reinforced by the WEM Procedure from 1 May 2026.
- What size system will my connection actually support? The 30 kVA aggregate figure is a ceiling for standard connections, not a guarantee about your property.
How we ranked these
- The credential gate runs first, before any review score. Every business in the pool was searched by name on the New Energy Tech Consumer Code Approved Seller register. This corridor performed unusually well on that test, which is why the cut list here is mostly about location rather than credentials.
- Locality is proved by address, not by business name. We open the map place page for every borderline listing, and where a national register or the operator’s own website gives a different address we treat those as stronger evidence than a map pin.
- Ratings are weighted, not sorted. A Bayesian weighting pulls small review samples toward the category average, so a 5.0 from nine reviews does not outrank a 4.9 from six hundred.
- We check the place page category, not the search card. Vista Electrical Controls would have been wrongly cut on its name alone. The card category is frequently wrong in both directions.
- A minimum of three qualifying operators, or we do not publish. We will not merge neighbouring areas together to lengthen a list.
Common questions
Why is Perth Solar Warehouse not on this list when it has 969 reviews?
Because it is based in Bibra Lake, which is in the Cockburn corridor rather than Perth’s south-east. It is a substantial business with the largest review record we have seen in this trade anywhere in the metro area, and it will be assessed for the Fremantle, Melville and Cockburn page. The same applies to Koala Solar in Yangebup and Talk Energy in Mount Pleasant. These businesses appear in Canning Vale and Cannington searches because Google shows nearby and sponsored results alongside local ones, not because they are based here. If you are happy with an installer travelling to you, they are worth a quote regardless. This page exists to answer a narrower question, which is who is actually based in your corridor.
Three of the four are in the same Canning Vale estate. Is that a problem?
It is a feature of the corridor rather than a flaw in the ranking. Canning Vale’s light industrial estate is where a large share of Perth’s south-eastern trades operate from, and solar is no exception. Empower Solar on Ernest Clark Road, TDG Solar on Vinnicombe Drive and Vista Electrical Controls on Harvard Way are all within a couple of kilometres of each other. The practical upside for you is that getting three comparative quotes from businesses with real, checkable premises is easier here than in almost any other part of Perth. We did not restrict the search to Canning Vale, and Welshpool, Kewdale, Gosnells, Maddington and Thornlie were all swept. Canning Vale is simply where the credentialed operators turned out to be.
Positions three and four are 0.012 apart. Why rank them at all?
Because a table has to have an order, and inventing a tie would hide the arithmetic rather than explain it. What we can do is tell you plainly that the gap is not meaningful, which is what the copy above does. TDG Solar and Vista Electrical Controls have the same 4.8 rating on samples of 170 and 143 reviews. On any reasonable reading they are equivalent, and the choice between them should come down to quote, availability and what you want installed rather than to our third decimal place. The gap between first and second, by contrast, is real and reflects a genuinely stronger record.
Two businesses were cut for being based somewhere else despite being approved. Is that fair?
It is the same rule we apply everywhere, and it cuts against businesses we would otherwise be happy to rank. Solar Lyght has a perfect 5.0 and a valid NETCC listing. Solar 365 is approved and operates across five states. Neither was excluded for anything to do with quality. The question this page answers is who is based in Perth’s south-east, and when Google and the national register disagree about an address we go with the register, because it is a formal declaration made by the business rather than a map pin that can be set to a shared desk or a service area. Both will be assessed on the pages for the corridors their registered addresses point to.
How often is this page updated?
Monthly. Google ratings move, review counts climb and register listings are added and removed, so a ranking that is accurate in September will have drifted by December. Businesses cut for a missing register match are specifically re-checked each cycle, since that is the most likely thing to change.
