Perth’s inner city holds more code approved solar sellers than any corridor we have assessed, and almost none of them work from a yard. The Perth CBD, West Perth, Subiaco and Mount Hawthorn between them produced eleven businesses that are approved under the New Energy Tech Consumer Code and carry a verifiable address, which is nearly double what the outer corridors returned. We ran the credential check first: every operator below appears by name on the national NETCC Approved Seller register, and the register’s own head office or branch address matches the suburb on their Google listing. Businesses with bigger review counts were cut when they failed that test, and we name them further down.

Fritts Solar appears on the national NETCC Approved Seller register with a signatory date of 22 April 2025, covering solar PV, energy storage and EV charging in Western Australia, and the register gives its head office as Level 25, 108 St Georges Terrace, which is the address Google shows as well. Two independent sources agreeing on a street address is the strongest locality proof available in this trade. That address is a floor in a CBD office tower rather than a warehouse, so there is nothing to walk into and inspect, but it is a real Perth address and the review record behind it is the largest we found inside the inner city. A 5.0 rating across 110 reviews is the second strongest record here, and the NETCC register lists Pro Custom Energy for solar PV and energy storage across Western Australia from 13 June 2025. Its register head office, its Google listing and its own website all give the same address at 45 Ventnor Avenue in West Perth. That building is a serviced office centre rather than a trade premises, and two other code approved solar sellers are registered in it, so treat the address as a contact point rather than somewhere to inspect equipment. What it does establish is a real, contactable West Perth entity with published trading hours and a working website, which is more than most of the Perth wide solar brands can show. Weighted score 4.762.

A 5.0 rating across 93 reviews puts Urban Solar Life 0.021 behind the operator above it on our weighted score, which is close enough that you should read both rather than assume the order means much. It joined the NETCC register on 14 July 2025 for solar PV and energy storage in Western Australia, and the register, Google and the company’s own website all state 45 Ventnor Avenue, West Perth. The same serviced office caveat applies, and it is the second of the three code approved sellers registered in that one building. Its published hours run later into the evening than anyone else on this page, which is worth knowing if you work standard hours and want an after work site visit. Weighted score 4.741.

Aus Energy Solar carries 4.8 across 306 Google reviews, the second largest review count on this page and by a distance the largest attached to an ordinary street level suite rather than an office tower or a serviced centre. Its NETCC listing dates from 18 June 2025 and covers solar PV, EV charging and energy storage across Western Australia, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland, the widest interstate footprint of anyone here. The register gives its head office as 1a Agnew Way, Subiaco, while Google shows a suite on Scarborough Beach Road in Mount Hawthorn. Both sit inside this corridor, so the two sources corroborate each other rather than conflict. Weighted score 4.726.

430 Google reviews is the largest single record on this page, and at 4.7 it is also the lowest star average of the six, which is exactly the trade off our weighted score exists to handle. Think Renewable is a national business: the NETCC register gives its head office in Surry Hills, New South Wales, and lists a separate Western Australian branch at Unit 14, 326 Hay Street, Perth. That is the address on the Perth Google listing the reviews attach to, so the branch is doing the local work. Its register entry is the only one on this page covering virtual power plants alongside solar PV, storage and EV charging, which matters now that the WA battery rebate makes VPP participation a condition. Weighted score 4.662.

PV Point finishes 0.012 behind the operator above it, which is a narrow enough margin that positions five and six should be read as level rather than ranked. It holds a 5.0 rating across 43 reviews and joined the NETCC register on 26 August 2025 for solar PV, EV charging, energy storage and microgrids in Western Australia. Register and Google agree on Level 3, 1060 Hay Street, West Perth, which is the Amberley Business Centre, another serviced office address. The microgrid coverage is unusual for a business this size and points at work beyond straightforward residential rooftop jobs. Weighted score 4.650.

We rank on a weighted score rather than a raw star average, because a 5.0 from twelve reviews is not the same evidence as a 4.8 from three hundred. The formula pulls every rating towards 4.5 in proportion to how few reviews sit behind it, so volume has to be earned before it moves the order. The credential test runs before the score and it is not negotiable. Installing grid connected solar in Western Australia is electrical work: the Clean Energy Regulator requires accreditation from Solar Accreditation Australia plus an unrestricted electrical licence in the state of installation before small scale technology certificates can be created, and WA’s Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991 require electrical work to be done by a licence holder, with contractors also carrying current civil liability insurance.
Individual electrical licence numbers cannot be searched by business name in Western Australia, so we use the New Energy Tech Consumer Code Approved Seller register instead. It is ACCC authorised, it is name searchable, and it publishes head office and branch street addresses, which doubles as independent locality proof. Every operator above appears on it by name. We also search the register by suburb, not only by company name, because registered names often differ from trading names, and we run a control search on a business known to be listed before we accept any result as a genuine absence.
Why so many inner city solar addresses are office suites
This corridor behaves differently from every other one we have covered. In Rockingham or Malaga a solar business tends to have a unit in an industrial estate. In the Perth CBD and West Perth, most of them have a desk. Three of the six operators above are registered in serviced office buildings, and one address alone, 45 Ventnor Avenue in West Perth, is the registered head office of three separate code approved solar sellers. Google labels that building as serviced and virtual offices; Level 3 at 1060 Hay Street is a business centre in the same mould. This is legal and unremarkable in an industry where the vans, the racking and the installers are usually subcontracted anyway, but it changes what an address tells you. It is a contact point, not a workshop, so weigh the accreditation and the review record more heavily than the postcode.
Who we cut, and why
Fifty two solar businesses turned up across this corridor and six made the list. Another five passed the credential test outright and were cut on score alone, which makes this the deepest pool of code approved operators we have assessed anywhere in the trade. We name everyone we cut and the reason, because a ranking that only shows its winners is not telling you much.
- SolarGrid Perth, 4.7 from 72 reviews passes every test we apply. It is a NETCC approved seller from 23 September 2025, its register head office at Level 1, 231 Bulwer Street matches its Google listing exactly, and its website describes complete solar installations despite a Google category that reads solar energy equipment supplier. Weighted 4.584, cut on score alone. First name in if any of the six above drops out.
- Solar Xcellence, 4.8 from 58 reviews and Illumina Energy, 4.7 from 58 reviews are both approved sellers with register addresses in West Perth that match their Google listings. Illumina has been in the codes since 30 April 2021, the longest history of any business in this corridor. Weighted 4.610 and 4.573.
- Just Solar Co, 5.0 from 16 reviews and Helix3, 5.0 from 12 reviews are both approved sellers with matching register and Google addresses, in the CBD and West Perth respectively. Genuine and credentialed, but the review counts are too thin to lift them past the six above. Weighted 4.569 and 4.554.
- National Renewable, 4.8 from 304 reviews has a real address at 2 slash 10 Southport Street, West Leederville and the third largest review record in the corridor, but it returned no match on the NETCC register under any spelling we tried, including a suburb sweep, with a control search passing in the same session. Cut on the credential gate. It is the biggest stranded record on this page.
- Solar Lyght, 5.0 from 196 reviews is a NETCC approved seller, but the register puts its head office in West Perth while its Google place page puts it in a shared business hub in Gosnells, and its website has failed to resolve on two checks four days apart. Where the register and the map pin disagree we normally follow the register, but a contradiction plus a website that will not load is a different situation, and we would rather say so than rank it.
- Solar Market, 4.7 from 119 reviews, Rokeby Road, Subiaco is a quote comparison service that passes enquiries on to installers. Real business, wrong category for this list.
- Lux, 4.0 from 227 reviews and Plico Energy, 3.9 from 328 reviews both sit below our 4.3 rating floor.
- No verifiable street address, so no way to place them in this corridor or any other: MaxSolar 5.0 from 117 reviews, Perth Solar and Battery Repairs 5.0 from 72, Unplugged Energy 5.0 from 41, Mt Solar WA 5.0 from 39, Village Energy 5.0 from 35, Perth Solar Power Installations 5.0 from 32, Renewables4U 5.0 from 30, Greentec Energy 4.8 from 23 and Clean Solar Planet 5.0 from 21. MaxSolar is the largest stranded record of the group. EcoWhite, an approved seller registered on Coogee Street in Mount Hawthorn, has no Google reviews at all yet.

DNX Energy, 5.0 from 48 reviews, is an approved seller on Stirling Highway in Nedlands and is being held for a western suburbs page rather than folded in here to pad this one.
The schemes that change what a system costs in 2026
We do not publish a price table for solar, because we cannot verify current Western Australian installed prices to the standard we hold ourselves to on every other trade, and a made up range is worse than none. What we can give you is the current state of the schemes, checked against the regulators’ own pages on the day this went up. Verified 11 September 2026.

If you would rather not join an export product, or your site cannot hold a stable internet connection, the rules let you skip the ongoing connectivity requirement and run with a standard 1.5 kW export limit instead, and those systems are not subject to the remote disconnection requirements. Systems already installed under the WA battery scheme with a fixed 1.5 kW limit meet the new functionality requirements and do not need revisiting. Ask any installer to put in writing which of those two paths they are quoting, because the difference is worth real money over ten years. We deliberately do not print cent per kilowatt hour buyback rates on this page, because the published schedules carry a date stamp and go stale faster than we re-check.
Before you sign anything
- Ask for the Solar Accreditation Australia number of the person who will physically be on your roof, not the salesperson and not the company. The Clean Energy Regulator also requires that installer to hold an unrestricted WA electrical licence.
- Check the business on the NETCC Approved Seller register yourself before you pay a deposit. It is free, it is searchable by name, and it shows you the signatory date and the registered head office address.
- Ask whether the quote assumes you will join a virtual power plant. The WA battery rebate makes that a condition, so a quote that includes the rebate has already committed you to something.
- Get the export arrangement in writing, either full flexible export capability or the standard 1.5 kW limit. They are worth very different amounts across the life of the system and the difference is easy to gloss over in a sales conversation.
- Remember that an office address is not a workshop. Several operators on this page trade from serviced office suites, which is normal in this industry, but it means there is nothing to walk in and inspect. Judge them on accreditation and review history instead.
Questions
Do I need a licensed electrician to install solar panels in Perth?
Yes. Installing a grid connected rooftop system is electrical installing work, and Western Australia’s Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991 require electrical work to be carried out by a licence holder. A licensed electrical contractor must hold, or employ someone who holds, a current WA electrician’s licence, and must carry current civil liability insurance. On top of that, the Clean Energy Regulator requires the installer to be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia and to hold an unrestricted electrical licence in the state of installation before small scale technology certificates can be created for your system.
How much is the WA battery rebate in 2026?
The WA Residential Battery Scheme is open and offers up to 1,300 dollars for Synergy customers and 3,800 dollars for Horizon Power customers. Your approved vendor applies for it on your behalf. The scheme page’s worked example shows a 10 kWh battery reaching about 5,000 dollars once the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program is added, with larger batteries receiving more, and it notes that changes to the federal program may move that total. Participating in a virtual power plant is a condition of the rebate, and batteries installed before 1 July 2025 are not eligible for either the rebate or the loan funding.
What changed for WA solar on 1 May 2026?
New or upgraded solar and battery systems on the south west grid now have to support modern grid standards under a Western Power procedure. The rules apply to standard small user facilities, meaning connections below 1,000 volts with aggregate distributed energy capacity of 30 kVA or less, up from the previous 5 kVA limit, on single or three phase. Systems must comply with AS slash NZS 4777.2 using Australian Region B settings at installation and complete installation capability testing. Existing systems that are not being touched are unaffected.
Why do so many Perth solar companies list a West Perth office?
Because serviced office buildings are cheap, central and give a business a Western Australian address it can register and advertise. One building alone, 45 Ventnor Avenue in West Perth, is the registered head office of three separate code approved solar sellers, and Level 3 at 1060 Hay Street holds two more. There is nothing improper about it, and in an industry where installation crews are commonly subcontracted the office was never going to be where your panels are stored. It does mean an inner city address tells you less about a solar business than the same address would tell you about a plumber, so lean on the accreditation and the review history instead.
Is a five star rating from twenty reviews better than 4.8 from three hundred?
Usually not, and that is why we do not rank on the raw average. Our weighted score pulls every rating towards 4.5 in proportion to how thin the evidence behind it is, so a perfect score from a handful of reviews finishes below a slightly lower score backed by hundreds.
