Don’t get ripped off: red flags

- Quoting a system without sizing it. A good installer measures the room or home, ceiling height, window aspect and insulation, and sizes the kilowatts to suit. “She’ll be right, we’ll put a 7kW in” without measuring gets you an over- or under-sized unit that either short-cycles or runs your power bill up all summer.
- A cheap “supply & install” that skips the electrical or the brackets. Suspiciously low quotes often leave out the isolator switch, proper wall brackets, pipe covers or the electrical connection, then expect your own sparky to finish it. Get the inclusions in writing.
