Best solar installers in Karratha & Port Hedland (2026)
Table of Contents

The Pilbara is the hardest solar market in Western Australia to rank honestly. Sixteen electrical and solar businesses trade across Karratha and Port Hedland, but only five hold approval under the New Energy Tech Consumer Code, and two of those five have no Google review record at all. That leaves three operators that clear both tests. This page ranks those three, names every business that was cut and says exactly why, and sets out the Horizon Power rules that make solar and battery economics here different from Perth.

Blue Collar Business lists Western Australian trade businesses for homeowners who are trying to work out who is real. If you install solar in the Pilbara and you hold current code approval, your listing belongs on this page.
See listing optionsLite Force Pty Ltd

Lite Force is the largest solar review record in the Pilbara by a wide margin and the only one of the three that has held code approval for more than a year, a signatory since 8 July 2023. Its registered scope is the widest on this page: solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, energy management, power purchase agreements, virtual power plants and microgrids — the last two matter in a region where off-grid and edge-of-grid work is routine. Note the profile honestly: Lite Force has one company-wide Google listing at its Wedgefield head office, and the register also gives it a Karratha branch at 501 Croydon Road. The 203 reviews below are the whole business, not a Karratha-only record.
Get a quoteIndra Electrical Group

Indra Electrical Group is Google-categorised as an electrician rather than a solar company, but its register entry is specifically solar PV, EV charging, battery storage, energy management and VPPs, and the register address matches the Google pin at Karratha Industrial Estate. That is the same test that put Stinson, Vista Electrical Controls and Powley on earlier pages in this series. It is a new signatory, approved 11 September 2025, and nine reviews is a thin record — but every one of them is local and the rating is unbroken. Positions two and three are separated by 0.0152, which is close but real.
Get a quoteCoastal Electrical and Data

Coastal Electrical and Data carries Google’s solar energy company label, which on this page is the exception rather than the rule, and its Anderson Road address is a genuine Karratha workshop rather than a phone number with a service radius. It has been code-approved since 15 August 2025 for solar PV, EV charging and battery storage. Fifteen reviews at 4.7 is a slightly longer record than Indra’s but a lower rating, and the weighted score puts the two within 0.0152 of each other. On a field this small, treat positions two and three as a tie and choose on availability.
Get a quoteHow this ranking was built
Every operator was scored with the same weighted formula used across this series, which blends the Google star rating with review volume so that a perfect score from six customers cannot outrank a strong score from two hundred. Ratings were read from each business’s own Google header block, never from a page-wide text match, because the nearby-places rail on a Maps listing will happily hand you another company’s stars.
The gate comes first, though. Code approval is checked before rating, so an operator with no approval is cut no matter how good its reviews are — and in the Pilbara that cut the two largest electrical records in Karratha. Every business named below was checked against the register by name and by suburb, and every Google profile was coordinate-checked against the place page to make sure the pin is actually in the Pilbara.
Who was cut, and why
Publishing the cut list is the point of these pages. Thirteen businesses were assessed and not ranked, in four groups.
- Cut on the code gate — real Pilbara businesses with real customers that are not on the New Energy Tech Approved Seller register: Seascape Electrical Services (5.0, 74 reviews), the biggest electrical record in Karratha; Innovative Solutions WA (5.0, 24); 6 Star Group (4.0, 29); Ventura Electrical (5.0, 17); Northwest Solar Power (4.6, 12); Bright Electrics (5.0, 4); Karratha Contracting (5.0, 1); Tic Tag Systems (4.7, 13) and Energenic Solar (4.1, 8) in Port Hedland.
- Approved but unrankable — two operators clear the gate and cannot be scored because Google has nothing to score. Guma Wagagu Australia (1150 Mooligunn Road, Karratha Industrial Estate, approved 2 September 2025) has no findable Google listing at all. Independent Energy Systems (registered head office at Millars Well, branch at Pinnacles Street, Wedgefield, approved 24 September 2025) has a listing and no reviews. Both are legitimate; neither can be ranked here, and both are worth a call.
- Cut on product scope — Magellan Power holds a Port Hedland branch address on the register, but its approval covers energy storage only, not solar PV. It is a battery business, so it is out of scope for a solar installer page rather than failing any test.
- No review record — Solargain Karratha keeps a branch at McKenzie Way and has no reviews on that profile. Solargain is ranked on three other pages in this series on branches that do have records; this one cannot be.
- Wrong product — Port Hedland Solar Farm (2.7, 3 reviews) is a utility-scale construction project, not a residential installer, and Energy Power Systems Australia at Karratha is an equipment rental business.
Where a business appears above with a rating, that rating was read from its own Google profile on 15 September 2026.
Why Pilbara solar rules are not Perth solar rules
Karratha, Port Hedland, South Hedland, Roebourne and Point Samson sit on the North West Interconnected System, not the south-west grid, and are supplied by Horizon Power rather than Synergy. That single fact changes the money. Under the WA Residential Battery Scheme, the state rebate is up to $1,300 for Synergy customers and $3,800 for Horizon Power customers — so a Pilbara household is entitled to roughly three times the Perth figure on the state portion alone. Anyone quoting you the Perth number in Karratha has not read the scheme.
Three conditions attach to that rebate and all three are easy to trip over. Participation in a virtual power plant is a condition of eligibility, not an optional extra. Batteries installed before 1 July 2025 are not eligible for either the rebate or the no-interest loan, so an existing battery cannot be retro-claimed. And you do not apply yourself — your approved vendor claims it on your behalf, which is a practical reason to use an operator that is actually on the approved list. Plenti administers the scheme and publishes that vendor list.
On the federal side, the Clean Energy Regulator issues small-scale technology certificates based on the generation your system is expected to produce, and the scheme is legislated to end in 2030, so the certificate value attached to a new system falls as that date approaches. The state page gives a worked example of a 10 kWh battery reaching about $5,000 once state and federal support are combined, and warns that federal changes may move that total.
Cyclone region rules are the other Pilbara difference. Karratha and Port Hedland sit in the highest wind-classification zone in the state, and roof-mounted arrays here need mounting systems and engineering certification rated for it. Ask for the wind rating on the racking, in writing, before you sign — it is the single most useful question a Pilbara homeowner can ask, and the answer separates installers who work here from installers who visit.
Rebates and schemes that apply in the Pilbara
Figures below were read directly from the responsible government pages on 15 September 2026. The WA scheme page was stamped 29 June 2026.
| Scheme | Pilbara value | The condition that catches people out |
|---|---|---|
| WA Residential Battery Scheme | $3,800 | The Horizon Power rate, and three times the $1,300 a Synergy customer in Perth receives. If a quote shows $1,300 on a Karratha or Port Hedland address, the quote is wrong. |
| Virtual power plant condition | Mandatory | Households are required to join a VPP to be eligible. It is a condition of the rebate, not an upsell, and it means your battery will be dispatched. |
| Installation date cut-off | 1 July 2025 | Batteries installed before that date are not eligible for the rebate or the no-interest loan. An existing battery cannot be claimed retrospectively. |
| Who lodges the claim | Your approved vendor | You do not apply to the government yourself. The vendor claims it for you, and Plenti, the scheme administrators, publishes the approved vendor list — a direct reason to choose from it. |
| Federal certificates | Falls to 2030 | The Clean Energy Regulator issues certificates on expected generation and the scheme ends in 2030, so the same system is worth less each year you wait. |
Rebate rules change, and the state page itself warns that federal changes may move the combined total. Treat the figures above as accurate on the date shown and confirm them with your installer before you sign a contract — a code-approved seller is obliged to give you a clear, comprehensive quote with no hidden costs, which includes being straight about which rebate applies to your address.
Five questions worth asking
- Are you on the New Energy Tech Approved Seller register, and under what registered name? Trading names differ from registered ones, so ask for the name to search.
- What wind classification is the racking certified to? In a cyclone region this is the question that separates local operators from visitors.
- Which rebate figure have you used in this quote? It should be $3,800, not $1,300.
- Which virtual power plant will I be joining, and what does it do to my battery? Participation is mandatory, so the answer should already exist.
- Who handles a warranty callout, and how long will it take to get here? Distance is the real service risk in the Pilbara.
Questions
Why are only three installers ranked when sixteen businesses were assessed?
Because the credential gate and the review record cut in different directions here. Five operators hold New Energy Tech code approval with a Pilbara street address, but two of those five have no usable Google record — one has no listing at all and one has a listing with zero reviews. Meanwhile the businesses with the strongest review records in Karratha, including a 5.0 with 74 reviews, are not on the register. Only three operators clear both tests, and padding the list with businesses that fail one of them would defeat the purpose of the page.
Is the $3,800 battery rebate really higher than in Perth?
Yes. The WA Residential Battery Scheme sets the rebate at up to $1,300 for Synergy customers and $3,800 for Horizon Power customers, and Karratha, Port Hedland, South Hedland, Roebourne and Point Samson are all Horizon Power areas on the North West Interconnected System. The catch is that participation in a virtual power plant is a condition of eligibility, batteries installed before 1 July 2025 are excluded, and your approved vendor lodges the claim for you rather than you applying directly.
Why is a Port Hedland business ranked first on a page that covers Karratha?
Lite Force holds three addresses on the national register — its Wedgefield head office near Port Hedland, a Karratha branch at 501 Croydon Road, and a Kalgoorlie branch — so it is a credentialed operator in both towns this page covers. What it does not have is a separate Karratha Google listing, so the 203 reviews shown are the single company-wide record rather than a Karratha-only one. That is stated on the card rather than hidden, because the alternative, splitting or inventing a local figure, would be worse.
Seascape Electrical has 74 reviews at 5.0. Why is it not on the list?
Seascape Electrical Services has the strongest electrical review record in Karratha and would have ranked second on rating and volume alone. It returned no match on the New Energy Tech Approved Seller register, searched by name and by suburb, so it was cut on the gate. That is not a judgement about its work — plenty of good electricians choose not to join a voluntary code. It means only that this page cannot verify it against the standard every other listed business met. If it joins, it belongs here.
Does this page cover South Hedland, Roebourne, Dampier and Point Samson?
Yes. The cluster is the Pilbara coast, which is a single Horizon Power supply area rather than two separate markets, and no approved seller holds a registered street address in those smaller towns — the operators serving them work out of Karratha, Karratha Industrial Estate or Wedgefield. Newman sits inland on a different part of the network and is not covered here.
What does code approval actually get me?
The New Energy Tech Consumer Code is authorised by the ACCC, and approved sellers commit to honest sales practice with no pressure-selling, clear quotes and contracts with no hidden costs, safe and on-time installation, and complaints dealt with promptly with warranties honoured. It is voluntary, so its absence is not proof of anything — but its presence is a checkable commitment with a complaints process behind it, which is more than a five-star average can tell you. It is also the list your vendor must be on to claim the battery rebate for you.
